Dr. Hou Yiyang is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Digital Arts and Creative Industries, Lingnan University, Hong Kong. He holds a PhD in Film and Media Studies from UCLA, an MA from Columbia University, and a BA from SUNY Stony Brook. His research focuses on 1980s Chinese film culture, media infrastructure, East Asian creative industries, and Sinophone digital culture. He has published in the Journal of Cinema and Media Studies, Journal of Chinese Cinemas, and Contemporary Cinema. He is the 2023 recipient of the SCMS First Place Award for Student Writing.
